38-year-old Seargent Zamikhaya Mqolo, linked to the Mthatha National Intervention Unihas been granted R3 000
Sergeant Zamikhaya Mqolo, 38, appeared in court on Tuesday, 27 May 2026, where he was granted R3 000 bail for the alleged murder of Bude Phuka, 37, and the burning of his body afterwards.
The incident is alleged to have taken place earlier this month in Indwe, near Queenstown.
According to an eyewitness, who is also the girlfriend of the deceased, she was with Phuka at a local liquor establishment when Mqolo, her ex-partner and off-duty at the time, arrived and allegedly argued with the deceased before assaulting him.
She told investigators she attempted to intervene but was overpowered. The deceased then left the establishment in his vehicle, but the accused allegedly pursued him.
