Ejimakor alleged that their silence over persistent kidnappings and violent attacks linked to criminal elements among Fulani herders amounts to looking away while communities are terrorised.

Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, human rights lawyer and counsel to the imprisoned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has accused Fulani leaders of complicity in the worsening insecurity across Southern Nigeria.

Ejimakor alleged that their silence over persistent kidnappings and violent attacks linked to criminal elements among Fulani herders amounts to looking away while communities are terrorised.

In an open letter addressed to Fulani leaders on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Ejimakor questioned whether northern communities would tolerate similar violence if armed criminals from other ethnic groups invaded their region and unleashed kidnappings, killings, and destruction under the guise of economic activity.

“Would you tolerate it if either IGBOS or YORUBAS infiltrate your region & launch constant kidnapping raids on your men, women, and children? Or even destroy your farms, maiming & killing your people, all in the name of herding cattle or other avocation?” he asked.
