An elderly couple sustained severe injuries in fire that broke out at their house in Pulianthope on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) morning. The police said the couple Devaraj, 74, and Muniyamma, 70, lived alone in a thatched house in Venkatesapuram, Pulianthope. On Wednesday morning, while Muniyamma was cooking, a gas leak triggered a fire.The couple suffered more than 80% burn injuries and was admitted to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for treatment.
