A Greek-owned tanker flying the Marshall Islands flag was struck off the coast of Oman, according to the Ministry of Maritime and Insular Policy. According to a warning from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the tanker, which was sailing approximately 60 nautical miles east of Muscat, reported an external explosion on the port side of the vessel, near the waterline.The same report indicated that the impact caused a fuel leak, but there were no injuries or risk to the crew, who are all in good health. The ship has loaded oil in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, and is continuing its voyage to India as scheduled.The incident adds to a series of security events recently recorded across the wider region of the Arabian Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, heightening concerns within the international shipping community.
