A new high-pressure natural gas transmission pipeline in Western Macedonia was inaugurated on Tuesday in Perdikkas, near Kozani.
The project was developed by the Operator of the Greek National Natural Gas System (DESFA). The inauguration ceremony was led by Despina Paliarouta, and DESFA CEO Maria Sferruzza, with government officials, local authorities, and representatives of the energy sector also attending.
The project, with a total budget of €188 million, includes a 157-kilometer pipeline crossing Central Macedonia and ending at Kardia, where PPC is constructing a new combined heat and power unit that will support district heating systems in Kozani, Ptolemaida and Amyntaio.
It is the largest new expansion project of the National Natural Gas System in Greece, providing natural gas access to areas of Western and Central Macedonia that had previously remained outside the network.
