As he joined the Muslims in observing this year's Eid’l Adha, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday urged Filipinos to look beyond their personal desires and see that true fulfillment is found in obedience, humility, and devotion. In a message, Marcos said that Eid’l Adha is a sacred occasion that reminds people of the “power of unwavering faith, complete submission to Allah's will, and trust in a purpose greater than ourselves.”“Eid’l Adha carries a timeless message for people of all faiths and backgrounds: that sacrifice, when offered with sincerity and love, becomes a source of profound strength,” the President said. “It teaches us that whatever we surrender for what is just and noble is never lost. Rather, it is transformed into blessings that enrich our homes, strengthen our communities, and elevate our shared humanity,” he added. Through selflessness, Marcos emphasized that there is more understanding, unity, and a more just society. “May this sacred observance inspire deeper reflection and renew our commitment to the values that bind us together as one people and one nation. Let us carry the spirit of Eid’l Adha into our daily lives and offer our own acts of generosity in building a more compassionate and inclusive Bagong Pilipinas,” he said. Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide for three to four days with most of them attending special prayers at major mosques and Islamic centers throughout the world.EXPLAINER: What is Eid'l Adha? — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA News
