The Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj rewarded the special police team for rescuing an abducted nine-year-old baby within five hours in Royapuram.According to police, Geetha, 29, a resident of Mugalivakkam, was admitted to the RSRM Government Maternity Hospital in Royapuram for delivery.She gave birth to a baby girl on May 15. A woman identified as Amuluk Pavarose Mary, who become acquainted with Geetha at the hospital, allegedly pretended to help Geetha return home after her discharge from the hospital on May 24 by arranging an auto-rickshaw, but escaped with the infant girl child.Based on a complaint lodged by Geetha, the police registered a case at the Royapuram All Women Police Station and began an investigation.A special police team led by Royapuram Assistant Commissioner R.D. Bramanandan was formed. The police team acted swiftly, conducted an intensive investigation, and rescued the kidnapped infant within five hours from V.O.C. Nagar in Pulianthope. The child was safely handed over to her parents.The accused, Amuluk Pavarose Mary and her husband Thomas, 32, of Kodungaiyur, were arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
