The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to appoint A. Vishnu Vardhan, Principal of Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, as the new In-Charge Director of Medical Education (DME).G. Raghunandan, who served as the DME for nine months while also holding the post of Additional DME, has decided to step down.In his place, Dr. Vishnu Vardhan, who has served as the Principal and Additional DME (ADME) for the past one year, has been chosen for the post.Dr. Raghunandan has been appointed as the Superintendent of Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH).According to a release issued by the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare on Tuesday, Dr. Vishnu Vardhan completed his MBBS from Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada in 1987. In 1994, he completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in anaesthesia from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, after which he joined Rangaraya Medical College as an Assistant Professor.He has 29 years of experience in various capacities in the government sector. He was promoted to the post of Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology in the same college in 2015. He also worked as the Head of the Department, Vice-Principal before becoming the Principal here.New appointments and transfersThe government has also decided to give Principal and Superintendent postings to 15 ADMEs, who were recently promoted from the post of Professors. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu approved the proposals submitted by the Health Department in this regard.K.V.V. Satyanarayana Murthy, who worked as a Professor of Neurology at Guntur GGH, will be appointed as Additional DME in the DME office. P. Ushakiran, a professor of pharmacology at Rangaraya Medical College, has been promoted as the Principal of the college. M.S. Raju, Eluru GGH Superintendent, has been transferred as the Rajahmundry Government Medical College Principal.Basumitra Das, a professor of Pathology at Vizianagaram Government Medical College, will be appointed Principal of Paderu Medical College. S. Govindu, who is working as a professor of Community Medicine at Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada, has been appointed as the Principal of Piduguralla Medical College. S. Shivani, a Biochemistry Professor at Rangaraya Medical College, will be appointed Principal of Ongole Medical College. V. Manmadharao, Professor and HoD of General Surgery at Andhra Medical College has been appointed as the Director of Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS).The new Superintendents are: C. Srinivasulu (Piduguralla GGH), K.A.V. Suryanarayana (Rajamahendravaram GGH), G. Visaala (Nandyal GGH), P.V.V. Satyanarayana (Eluru GGH), G. Sowmini (Srikakulam GGH), P.
