Collector S. Kandasamy has said that the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) has extended the empty liquor bottle buy-back scheme to all 182 retail outlets in Erode district and appealed to the public not to discard or break empty bottles in water bodies or public places.A release from the Collector said the scheme, which was earlier implemented in three outlets located in hilly areas, had been expanded to the remaining 179 shops from December 3, 2025, following directions from the Madras High Court. Under the initiative, customers purchasing liquor or beer will pay an additional refundable deposit of ₹10 per bottle along with the maximum retail price. Bottles carrying a sticker marked “EC ₹10/-” and the respective shop number can be returned to the same outlet for refund of the deposit amount.
