Although the star told fans she’s taking a “step back” for her “own sanity”, sources close to Katie say she is refusing to give up on the self-proclaimed multi-millionaire, who was last week at the centre of a bizarre kidnap scenario.“Despite everything, Katie is totally smitten with Lee,” says our source. “Her family are telling her, ‘Get rid of the ring and end this marriage,’ but she can’t.“No one can get through to her and make her see sense. You’ve made yourself look a d***.”But now things have taken a much darker turn and Katie had been unable to contact Lee, 43, for over a week. She even put out a desperate call to fans on social media, begging them to keep an eye out for the man she calls ‘The One’.Speaking on her YouTube channel last week, the star pleaded: “If there is anyone in Dubai or you know anyone in Dubai and you spot him, see him… I just don’t know where he is, ’cos the last thing I know his hands were tied, he had a hood over his head… and he was in the back of a van. And that’s all I know.”She went on: “This is a really difficult time for me at the moment. It’s been five days now since I’ve heard anything from Lee.“We have reported him to the British Embassy as a missing person, he’s been reported in Dubai as a missing person. My anxiety levels are sky high, I just don’t know what to say.”Katie’s plight came after a newspaper claimed Lee allegedly conned one of their journalists into investing £1,000 in a money-making scheme. The circumstances surrounding Lee’s mysterious disappearance have left Katie stressed and confused.After she was forced to appear on GMB alone, the former glamour model said Lee had FaceTimed her late at night, claiming he had been tied up and taken to a “black site”, a term for a state-run detention facility.Yet doubt was cast on Lee’s credibility in light of multiple claims about his life and businesses having apparently been debunked in recent months. What’s more, Dubai authorities reportedly told Katie that no one by Lee’s name has been detained.Speaking to her sister, Sophie, on their Katie Price Show podcast, the mum-of-five said: “I’ve never known a week of so much stuff… everywhere. My brain has just been bonkers.“The police are now handling it; British police, British consulate, the Foreign Office, Interpol are all on the case now looking for Lee.”Sophie has made no secret of her exasperation over Katie’s latest ordeal. Venting during a previous episode, she took aim at her sister’s husband, saying: “I just feel like he’s massively mugging you off and he’s done it publicly on live TV.”To add to her woes, Katie says her pain has been exacerbated by a barrage of online abuse, including suggestions that she is somehow involved in Lee’s disappearing act.Last week she raged: “I want to make it clear again to everyone this is not a publicity stunt. This is real. Anybody who thinks I am a part of this is disgusting.”‌Yet according to our source, no matter how much the evidence mounts up, Katie – who married Lee in January after meeting him just days earlier – refuses to believe he is playing her for a fool.“People are telling her, ‘Can’t you see something’s not right? It’s so obvious,’ but he is very charismatic, charming and says all the right things to Katie,” says our source. “He makes Katie believe him.“Even though in her heart she knows it’s not adding up, she can’t help but be in love with him and can’t face the truth. Whatever he does, she’s sticking by him and it’s like a dangerous obsession.”‌Asked whether anyone might be able to help Katie see the light, our source adds: “She won’t take any criticism about him and can’t believe Lee would ever do this to her publicly and is holding out he’s telling the truth.“She’s no stranger to divorce and she definitely doesn’t want to go back there again. There’s so much at stake. But her family really aren’t happy about it. They think Katie is being taken for a mug.”Despite finding the situation with Lee “really distressing”, Katie insisted she is trying to keep as cool a head as possible.
