Interest in Bulgaria as the future host of Eurovision 2027 is already beginning to affect the tourism sector, with the first reservations reportedly appearing only minutes after DARA won this year’s contest with “Bangaranga.” Representatives of the tourism and hotel industry say the event could become one of the biggest international attractions Bulgaria has ever hosted and may leave a lasting effect on the country’s image and visitor numbers.
Speaking on NOVA NEWS, Boris Pavlov from the Association for Tourist Properties and Innovations said the first visible wave of bookings came almost immediately after the Eurovision final. According to him, guest apartments and smaller hotels reacted first because their reservation systems allow calendars to remain open years in advance. “Reservations started literally on Sunday night,” Pavlov said, adding that some smaller accommodation providers quickly began receiving inquiries and confirmed stays for May 2027.
Pavlov believes the scale of the event will be unprecedented for Bulgaria. While there are still no official forecasts, he expects “hundreds of thousands” of visitors to travel to the country around Eurovision week. In his words, the contest itself is only part of the effect, while the much larger benefit comes from the international attention Bulgaria is currently receiving through DARA’s success.
