Gbenga Abiola, popularly known as Agbelebu, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Agege Constituency I, following the party’s primaries in Lagos State.
The development sparked celebrations across parts of the constituency as supporters, residents and party faithful gathered in solidarity with the lawmaker shortly after the announcement.
In a statement issued on Monday by supporters under the aegis of the Agbelebu Solidarity Forum, the group described Abiola’s emergence as a reflection of grassroots support and years of political engagement within the constituency.
According to the statement, the turnout recorded across several wards during the exercise demonstrated the level of support enjoyed by the APC candidate among party members and residents.
The supporters attributed Abiola’s emergence to what they described as his longstanding involvement in grassroots mobilisation, youth empowerment, humanitarian interventions and political inclusion across Agege.
