Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy wondered whether the BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao had the moral right to speak on the Indiramma housing scheme, when the BRS government utterly failed in the housing sector. In a post on social media platforms, Mr. Reddy took a jibe at Mr. Rao asking, “What will they understand who live in farmhouses?” Defending the Congress government’s housing initiative, he stated that within the first two-and-a-half years of coming to power, the State government was constructing 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses. The true impact of “Indiramma governance” could be understood only by visiting villages and interacting with beneficiary families who got houses, he said.Mr. Reddy also ridiculed Mr. Rao’s remarks on political retirement and said people of Telangana had already rejected the BRS in the Assembly elections and reduced the party to zero Lok Sabha seats. “People are now prepared to give VRS to the BRS in the next elections. There is no need for you to separately announce political retirement,” he said. Published - May 25, 2026 09:05 pm IST
