The allocations come amid allegations that the Lagos State Government quietly dismantled the Directorate of Project Inspection within the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments (OAGLG), a unit previously responsible for independent physical verification of projects and public assets across the councils.

Amid growing concerns over procurement transparency and project accountability, Lagos State’s 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) received a combined allocation of about N1.02 trillion between 2023 and 2025, analysis of monthly disbursements has shown.

The allocations come amid allegations that the Lagos State Government quietly dismantled the Directorate of Project Inspection within the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments (OAGLG), a unit previously responsible for independent physical verification of projects and public assets across the councils.

Analysis of allocation data shows that Lagos councils received approximately N184.7 billion in 2023, N356.5 billion in 2024 and N480.9 billion in 2025, bringing the cumulative allocation within the three-year period to about N1.02 trillion.

The figures indicate that allocations to Lagos councils increased by roughly 160 per cent between 2023 and 2025.
