MANILA, Philippines – The Makati Business Club (MBC) urged senators to set aside personal and political interests as they prepare to convene as senator-judges in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a statement dated May 24, the MBC said impeachment was “one of (the Senate’s) most important constitutional responsibilities,” and a chance for the chamber to restore its credibility following the “unprecedented drama and chaos” that unfolded within its halls earlier this month.
“The Makati Business Club respectfully reminds all our Senators that you were elected by the people to serve the people and not pursue personal, political or business interests,” it said.
