According to the communiqué, members of the Chapel expressed serious concern over sustained intimidation and pressure mounted against personalities invited to the programme, including traditional rulers and supporters of the Chapel.
The Congress of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, has condemned the alleged intimidation, harassment and threats directed at invited guests and supporters during the Chapel’s recently concluded Press Week activities.
In a statement, the Congress accused two employees of state-owned media organisations of engaging in actions allegedly capable of creating fear, tension and division within the journalism community in Kwara State.
The Congress specifically identified Abdullateef Ahmed of Herald Newspapers and Yinka Alaya of Radio Kwara as those allegedly responsible for the actions.
The resolutions were contained in a communiqué issued at the Congress of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, Kwara State Council, after deliberations on issues surrounding the Press Week activities and developments that followed the event.
