The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Sen. Robin Padilla should help authorities establish the full account of how Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa left the Senate premises after the former police chief had been placed under the chamber’s protective custody.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag made the statement during the Saturday News Forum at Dapo Restaurant in Quezon City, saying Padilla himself confirmed that dela Rosa rode with him and was dropped off at another location.
The issue arose after authorities sought to implement the International Criminal Court’s warrant of arrest against Dela Rosa, whose presence and later departure from the Senate became the center of conflicting accounts following the May 13 incident in the chamber.
“I think without even law enforcement asking Sen. Padilla where, I think he is a responsible senator, a responsible citizen who knows that he should now answer to the law,” Matibag said.
