In a bid to provide relief to residents and tourists battling the summer heat wave, the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has deployed a mobile water fogging and mist cannon vehicles along the city’s high-traffic stretches, including the popular RK Beach Road. The initiative, taken up under the port’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, targets major public hotspots where footfall remains high despite the soaring temperatures.According to an official release on Sunday, the mist cannon operations will be carried out daily between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. – the peak hours of heat radiation – covering the coastal stretch from RK Beach to Appughar, as well as the bustling Railway Station Road. The specialised vehicle sprays a fine, pressurised water mist into the air, which evaporates quickly to lower ambient temperatures and cool the immediate surroundings.VPA officials stated that this temporary deployment aims to mitigate ambient heat levels and improve comfort for commuters, tourists, and outdoor workers until weather conditions improve.
