The Coimbatore Corporation has launched special cleaning and awareness drives across all five zones till May 31 under the Swachh Bharat 2.0 initiative, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department. The campaign includes awareness programmes on waste segregation, environmental protection, composting of biodegradable waste and the need to avoid the use of plastic. Residents and bulk waste generators are educated on segregating biodegradable waste, non-biodegradable waste, sanitary waste and special waste before handing them over to conservancy workers.As part of the initiative, special cleaning works are under way at around 10 lakes in the city.Corporation Commissioner M.
