TACLOBAN CITY — Eighteen persons were injured after a passenger bus reportedly suffered brake failure and plowed into several vehicles and roadside establishments in Catbalogan City Saturday morning, according to the local police.
The Catbalogan City police reported thatthe bus was traveling from Guiuan to downtown Catbalogan when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle after its braking system malfunctioned in Barangay Guindapunan at around 10:30 a.m.
Police identified the driver onlyas alias “Luz,” 48, a resident of Catbalogan City.
Initial investigation showed that the driver attempted to slow the vehicle down, but the brakes allegedly failed, causing the bus to ram several vehicles along the roadside before crashing into a concrete wall.
