MANILA, Philippines — Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian has emphasized that fairness, neutrality, and impartiality must guide the handling of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
According to the senator, these very values will govern the trial if his colleagues elect him Senate leader, placing him in charge of the impeachment court.
Gatchalian’s statement comes amid ongoing efforts by the minority bloc in the Senate to install him as the chamber’s new leader.
“It is important to be just and fair. It is important to be impartial and neutral, and to carefully study the Articles of Impeachment,” Gatchalian said in a DWIZ interview on Saturday.
