LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A national peasant group has welcomed the government’s move to streamline and strengthen support systems for farmers, fisherfolk, and agricultural cooperatives nationwide.
“We welcome the government’s effort to strengthen coordination among agencies in supporting agricultural cooperatives, farmers, and fisherfolk,” Danny Carranza, secretary general of Kilusan Para sa Tunay na Repormang Agraryo at Katarungang Panlipunan (Katarungan), said in a phone interview on Friday evening.
Carranza said access to government programs in many rural communities has long been “fragmented, inconsistent, and burdened by overlapping requirements and political favoritism.”
