BACOLOD CITY – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Friday called for stronger coordination to address threats to the agricultural sector and youth violence, warning that economic disruptions and social issues could undermine peace and order in the Negros Island Region.
Speaking at the second quarter meeting of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) for the Negros Island Region hosted by Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, Lacson said public safety is closely linked to the economic stability of local communities.
He cited the continuing threats posed by African swine fever (ASF) and the red-striped soft scale insect (RSSI), saying their impact extends well beyond the agricultural sector.
