adsThe Federal High Court has been thrown into mourning following the death of Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa, a judge of the court’s Kano Division, who reportedly collapsed at his residence on Thursday evening.

Sources close to the family said the jurist slumped in the living room of his home and was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention. However, doctors later confirmed him dead.

Officials of the Federal High Court headquarters in Abuja subsequently confirmed the judge’s passing disclosed that he was laid to rest on Friday in accordance with Islamic rites.

Justice Yunusa was regarded as one of the prominent judges of the Federal High Court, particularly for his handling of several politically sensitive cases that emerged in the aftermath of the 2023 general elections. During his years on the bench, he presided over a number of high-profile disputes involving election outcomes, party nominations and other contentious political matters.

Colleagues and court officials described him as a diligent and dedicated judicial officer whose commitment to the administration of justice earned him respect within legal and political circles.
