Governor Ahmed Lawal, Zamfara State
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has pledged to deepen ongoing reforms and accelerate development projects across the state after emerging as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.
The governor made the commitment on Thursday shortly after he was unanimously endorsed by party members during a primary election conducted across the 14 local government areas of the state.
According to a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the chairman of the governorship primary committee, Alhaji Babagana Uba, declared Lawal the party’s candidate after collating results from across the state.
The statement said the affirmation exercise was conducted in all local government areas and witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
