MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office has issued a show cause order against one of its officials after a government vehicle assigned to the agency was spotted parked at a shopping establishment, the agency said Friday.

According to the LTO, a photo circulating on social media showed a government-issued vehicle parked at a membership shopping store, prompting LTO chief Markus Lacanilao to verify the incident. The vehicle was later confirmed to have been assigned to an LTO official.

“You are hereby directed to submit your verified comment within five (5) days upon receipt hereof, to shed light on the matter and why no administrative sanctions shall be taken against you for violating the existing laws and regulations of the government officials using government vehicles,” the show cause order read.
