Iranian media have reported that “Esmaeil Baghaei” has been appointed as the spokesperson for Iran’s negotiating team with the United States. According to the reports, “Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf,” who heads Iran’s negotiating delegation with the United States, appointed Baghaei to the role through an official decree.

Baghaei currently serves as the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was also part of the negotiating delegation during the first round of talks held in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, after the recent war.

In recent days, both sides have released reports suggesting progress in the negotiations. However, it is still unclear how far Iran and the United States have moved toward resolving their core differences over the basic principles of a possible agreement.

“Marco Rubio,” the United States Secretary of State, said on Friday, May 22, that Washington is waiting to hear the outcome of the discussions between Pakistani officials and Tehran.
