Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that the recent visit of Mohsin Naqvi, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, to Iran was conducted with the objective of “facilitating the exchange of messages and providing further explanations to clarify the texts exchanged between the parties.”

In an interview with Tasnim News Agency on Wednesday, May 20, Baghaei also emphasized that Iran is “pursuing the path of negotiations with seriousness and good faith,” despite possessing a “strong and logical suspicion” toward the American side.

This visit comes as U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that negotiations with the Islamic Republic are in their final stages, while simultaneously warning that further strikes would be carried out against Iran should the talks fail.

The Al-Hadath network, citing its own sources, reported that work on finalizing the text of the agreement between Washington and Tehran is actively underway, and that the next round of negotiations will be held in Islamabad following the Hajj pilgrimage. These sources also noted that the Pakistan Army Chief may travel to Iran to announce the finalization of the accord’s text; alternatively, if he does not travel, the news may be announced within the coming hours. Al-Hadath further reported that Ahmad Vahidi, a commander of the Revolutionary Guards, met with Naqvi in Tehran in his first public appearance since the outbreak of the war.
