Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Tuesday, August 11, holding high-level talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Simultaneously, Pakistan’s Defense Minister announced that Tehran and Washington are nearing “some form of an agreement.”
ISNA news agency reported that Naqvi arrived on Tuesday evening for bilateral discussions hosted by Momeni, who welcomed his Pakistani counterpart upon arrival. During the visit, Naqvi conferred with Foreign Minister Araghchi to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations.
The visit comes as Islamabad continues its diplomatic push to mediate between Iran and the United States, a role it has actively pursued since bilateral talks commenced. Naqvi has made several trips to Iran in recent months as part of these diplomatic efforts.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated in an interview with Bloomberg, published Tuesday, that Iran and the U.S. are closing in on a diplomatic breakthrough.
“The course of ongoing developments is once again shaping toward a peace agreement or understanding,” Asif said, adding that “the signals observed over the past two or three days indicate that they are nearing some form of an agreement.”
