Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is in Tehran to meet Iranian officials as Islamabad continues efforts to facilitate direct and indirect diplomatic channels between the United States and Iran, the foreign office said on Wednesday.

Pakistan is continuing its mediation efforts to resolve outstanding issues and help de-escalate the conflict in the region, foreign ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi told reporters in Islamabad.

“He is discussing bilateral relations, security, regional security and stability, and constructive engagement amongst the parties in the region and regional developments,” Andrabi said.

Pakistan said Naqvi conveyed an important message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir to the Iranian leadership.
