The Union of Greek Shipowners hosted a dinner on Friday at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens in honor of Princess Anne of the United Kingdom, who is visiting Greece accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

The event was organized by UGS president Melina Travlou, together with members of the board of directors.

The gathering highlighted the international standing of Greek shipping, as well as the longstanding historical ties of friendship and cooperation between Greece and the United Kingdom as two leading maritime nations.

Welcoming Princess Anne, Travlou underlined that the two peoples have been “sailing the same seas” for generations, noting a shared respect for seafaring traditions. She also expressed the Greek maritime community’s appreciation for the Princess’s longstanding humanitarian work in support of seafarers.
