Award-winning short films from the annual competitions organised by the National Human Rights Commission were screened at the Visakha Public Library on Friday under the aegis of the Human Rights Council.The exhibition was inaugurated by Andhra University College of Arts assistant professor Pallavi and Human Rights Council secretary Shyam Prasad. Films that won the first, second and third prizes, along with consolation award-winning entries, were screened during the programme.The films focused on issues such as untouchability, the right to education, child rights and discrimination against women. Students, artists and human rights defenders attended the event.Speakers lauded the council for organising screenings of award-winning films over the last three years to create awareness of human rights issues among the public.
