Mizan News Agency, the media organ of the judiciary, announced that a judicial case has been opened against the creators of the film “Tehran Kenaret” (Tehran by Your Side) over what has been described as “immoral content” in the work.

According to the report, as part of the ongoing proceedings, the head of the country’s Cinema Organization has also been summoned to the relevant judicial authority.

In the promotional teaser for Tehran Kenaret, women are shown wearing attire that differs from the standard hijab mandated by the Islamic Republic.

Meanwhile, Hossein Farahbakhsh, the film’s producer, protested the launch of a campaign seeking to pull the movie from theaters. In a video response, he stated: “I do not know what you ‘anxious ones’ want from the regime after these 47 years. With your actions, you have disgraced the Supreme Leader and the regime, and now you have fixated on the film Tehran Kenaret.”

Regarding the issuance of the screening permit, Farahbakhsh added: “The nine individuals who granted the screening permit to this film are trusted figures of the regime and are closer to it than you are.”
