“IT’S a lie by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service!”That was the response yesterday from Christopher Samaroo, the father of Joshua Samaroo, after learning that his daughter-in-law, Kaia Sealy, will be charged with shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against police officers, and manslaughter for causing the unlawful death of Samaroo during the January 20 incident in St Augustine.Samaroo questioned the version of events surrounding the deadly confrontation.“They are trying to shift the blame, to frame somebody. Who was shot at? I am not taking that on at all. Joshua is dead and my daughter-in-law is still alive, and I have to do everything to help her with his child and her,” Samaroo told the Express by phone.“They’re trying to cover their tails, and they will lie as much as they can. They are trying to put the blame on this poor child...I am confused, unless she has two of her, one doing the shooting and one getting the shots, which we know never happened.“Secondly, Joshua’s hands were out of the car facing the police. Was she shooting at him? That does not make any sense. Another easy way they are trying to get out of the quicksand they are in. The TTPS is in a lot of quicksand and hot water with this and other shootings piling up.”The father said the society had to reflect on this “insanity”.“It shows you where we have reached in society. But God is in control. I have a trump card that I will release when the time is right. The last say will be with me because I talk to my God every night, and he is going to direct me as to what is going to take place. The TTPS is corrupted, and I say that without fear or favour.”Samaroo’s lawyer, Criston Williams, said, “The family is very curious to see how the charge is constructed, but beyond that I have no further comment.”
