Concerned leaders in the Igala nation have called for unity and restraint following the recent primary elections of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi East Senatorial District in Kogi State.

In a joint statement issued on Friday by its representatives, Okolo Emmanuel and Ibrahim Mohammed, the elders urged political actors and youths in the area to avoid divisive rhetoric capable of undermining the unity of the Igala people.

The leaders expressed concern over tensions generated after the primary election and appealed to supporters of various aspirants to embrace peace and reconciliation.

“It is worrisome that a political contest between two prominent sons of the Igala nation is being allowed to threaten our collective unity.
