MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) may summon or suspend transport cooperatives or corporations that will not distribute payouts to their drivers who participated in the Service Contracting Program (SCP).
The agency earlier announced that the implementation of the program will end on Friday, May 22.
LTFRB board manager Atty. Greg Pua Jr. on Friday said many jeepney drivers are complaining that their payouts are taking longer than the government’s commitment, which is within five days.
Pua explained factors that contribute to the delay of payouts, such as scanning of the QR code and use of a global positioning system, which is required to determine the routes they covered for a day; use of banks for the payout; and distribution mechanism of transport cooperatives to their drivers.
