The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Sofia hosted a special dinner on the occasion of Turkish Cuisine Week, bringing together distinguished guests from Bulgaria, the diplomatic corps, business circles, and cultural life.

This year's Turkish Cuisine Week was celebrated under the theme "The Heritage Table", highlighting the stories, memories, traditions, and shared cultural values carried by Turkish cuisine. Celebrated every year from 21 to 27 May in Türkiye and around the world under the auspices of First Lady H.E. Emine Erdoğan, Turkish Cuisine Week presents Türkiye's rich culinary heritage as a living culture shaped by centuries of tradition, migration, craftsmanship, and shared tables.

The evening was hosted by H.E. Mehmet Sait Uyanık, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sofia, and Mrs. Uyanık. In his remarks, Ambassador Uyanık underlined that Turkish Cuisine Week is much more than a gastronomic event. He emphasized that the dining table is a place where friendship grows, generosity is shared, and people come together through culture and memory.

In his address, Ambassador Uyanık highlighted the deep cultural bonds between Türkiye and Bulgaria, noting that the two countries are not merely neighbours, but friendly nations whose histories, geography, and human stories have long been intertwined. He also pointed out that some traditional dishes presented during the evening are also found in Bulgarian cuisine, reflecting the shared cultural memory between the two peoples.
