After spending a day at the theme park — home to Peppa Pig World and the brand new £12m Viking attraction Valgard: Realm of the Vikings — this reviewer says it's the UK's best family theme park for children of all ages07:15, 22 May 2026It's a dilemma every parent with more than one child knows all too well: how do you organise a day out that keeps each of them happy? There's a nine-year age gap between Conor Wilson's eldest and youngest, with his middle child slap bang in between, which means none of them share the same interests. Every family outing therefore tends to be a delicate balancing act — an hour devoted to one child's preferences before swiftly moving on to pacify another. But for anyone grappling with the same struggle, Conor may have just stumbled upon the answer at a UK theme park. Conor visited Paultons Park on Saturday as the attraction unveiled its latest addition, Valgard: Realm of the Vikings.Having only been once before, to take a toddler to Peppa Pig World, Conor wasn't expecting much from the day ahead. The new £12million zone is targeted at families with older children and teenagers, , reports the Express, and features the park's first inverting rollercoaster, Drakon, alongside Vild Swing, a UK-first ride that spins guests 12 metres into the air, and Raven, an exhilarating bobsled adventure that rounds off the Viking village experience.Conor and his family turned up early, not anticipating a significant turnout of rollercoaster fanatics. Truthfully, Conor hadn't realised rollercoaster fanatics were even a thing, but the sheer volume of people clutching GoPros and pricey cameras proved otherwise and made it clear the launch was a major event. What Conor had previously overlooked was just how vast the park actually is, which means it genuinely appeals to youngsters and grown-ups across all age groups.Valgard offered attractions for himself and two of his children, with Conor's eldest proclaiming Drakon the best minute of his life. While Conor's middle child, 5, fell short of the height requirement for the headline ride, he was still able to test his mettle on Raven, whose sharp bends did just enough to briefly convince you that you might be hurled over the edge to your doom.Meanwhile, Conor's youngest was able to make the most of the brand new Viking-themed play area, which meant all three children and two adults were entertained and happy at the same time — a rarity in family life.Around the rest of the park, there were attractions suited to every age bracket. Peppa Pig World utterly captivated Conor's youngest, while the Lost Kingdom and Tornado Springs each had something to offer his eldest.Article continues belowHaving previously visited other UK theme parks that deliver thrills for adrenaline junkies but provide precious little for smaller visitors, Paultons Park surpassed all of their expectations, even if the sunshine proved fleeting.
