The organization of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, which Bulgaria is set to host, is expected to require funding in the range of 20 to 30 million euros, Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov said during an appearance on the Bulgarian National Television. He is overseeing the preparation process for the event.
Bulgaria secured hosting rights after its representative DARA won this year’s contest with the song “Bangaranga.” Hristov noted that the singer is expected to visit the Council of Ministers in the coming days as preparations accelerate.
According to him, a dedicated Eurovision line will be included in the national budget. Financing will not rely exclusively on state resources, as support is expected from sponsors linked to the European Broadcasting Union, alongside domestic contributors. He also pointed to projected economic benefits, citing growing demand for hotel bookings in Sofia ahead of the event.
“We have achieved something extraordinary,” Hristov said, describing the victory as an opportunity for Bulgaria to strengthen its international profile and promote itself as a destination with cultural depth, natural assets, and creative talent.
He also expressed gratitude to the management of Bulgarian National Television and to the performer, stating that “we owe gratitude to two BNT managements… who made the right decisions at all stages so that we could reach this great Bulgarian triumph, and above all to the talent of Dara.” He added that her performance stood out in a competition influenced by broader geopolitical and external factors.
