Russian disinformation claims Baltic countries allow Ukraine to use their airspace
Moscow is attempting to exploit Ukrainian drones that have veered off course due to Russian electronic warfare and crashed in the Baltic states to sow division across Europe – forcing European leaders into a delicate balancing act between supporting Kyiv and protecting their own airspace.
Less than a week after two Ukrainian drones crashed in Latvia, both the country’s defence minister and prime minister resigned, plunging the government into turmoil as officials scrambled to explain why the drones had not been intercepted.
“Seek shelter indoors, close windows and doors,” the Latvian armed forces warned on Thursday, for the third day in a row.
