MANILA, Philippines —The Visayas grid continues to suffer from power strain on Friday as three large coal plants remain offline, failing to provide the needed supply amid an increasing electricity demand.

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines has raised a yellow alert anew over the Visayas for the fifth straight day this week — from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
