MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) will place the Visayas grid under yellow alert again starting Friday night due to the unavailability of several major coal-fired power plants.
In an advisory on Friday, the grid operator said the yellow alert will take effect from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The tight electricity supply has been hounding the region, which is heavily reliant on power imports from Luzon and Mindanao, since May of this year.
