Catch me as DAMO next week For anyone wondering, I played Simon Barlow with my brother when I was a baby. I have now came back as a different character DAMO which is out next week”. In response, one follower said: "Look forward to seeing you in this!"Spoilers have revealed that in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, a young man named Damo appears. Amid this, Brody Michaelis heads to do a temp shift at Speed Daal, when some businessmen cause trouble. The rowdy customers drop a plate of curry over Brody’s trainers. As the trouble kicks off, Idris arrives to sort things. He confronts the men in front of a surprised Leanne Battersby and Brody. Fans were divided when a trailer teased Idris' arrival. One fan posted: "About time Alya had another relation on the Street she's been quiet far too long. Clearly Leanne has a thing for the Nazir men, first Kal, now Idris, about time she had an good romance."Looking forward to seeing what Idris brings to the show, hopefully he's a nice character." Others feared he would be another baddie, after plenty of villains on the cobbles.fan said: "PLEASE don't make it drugs related!" Another added: "Not another gangster!!!" as a third fan posted: "Not another dodgy personality!"Speaking about joining the show, actor Junade Khan who plays Idris said of the character: "He’s multi-layered and incredibly ambitious. As a child, he suffered a lot of hardship and neglect, so he’s had to overcome those obstacles entirely on his own. He’s a lone wolf - the black sheep of the family who has made a name for himself."He’s addicted to success and the finer things in life, but there’s a real vulnerability there, too. It’s the first time I’ve played a character where I can show that side, which is a great gift for an actor."Article continues belowCoronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
