Coronation Street fans are worried that one character could be about to be killed off after spotting the signs in a set of "concerning" scenes that aired on the ITV soap17:45, 31 Jul 2026Coronation Street fans are worried that one character could be about to be killed off - more than 20 years after making his debut on the ITV soap.Aadi Alahan was born to Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkisin) and Sunita Alahan, who died after being trapped in a fire at the Rovers Return more than a decade ago, in January 2006, arriving alongside his twin sister Asha. The role was initially played by a set of triplets before Zennon Ditchett took over in 2009 and left 10 years later. In 2020, Adam Hussain was cast as Aadi and exited towards the end of last year when Dev sent him off to work with relatives in India to try to get some grounding in life. But the way in which Aadi left the programme almost a year ago has now prompted fans to think that Dev will soon receive a phone call informing him of some tragic news.Taking to Reddit, one fan said: "With Aadi, a few things make me concerned. One is that his exit seemed a bit rushed - Dev just decided Aadi was a liability, and he needed to be shipped off to Bombay to work with Vikram. Another is that Aadi has barely been mentioned since he left, and it doesn't look like he has any real reason to return."One of the reasons he left was that he had basically become furniture. If he came back it would just be deja vu. He was basically a male Nina, stuck standing behind the counter in the shop or being a minor player in other people's storylines. I thought he was misused by the writers. With the budget cuts, I wonder if they will just decide to kill him off off-screen instead of bringing him back. I hope not, but it wouldn't shock me.Another agreed, as they suggested that it could even lead to Dev splitting from his current wife Bernie. They wrote: "Yeah I can definitely see this happening. They've done it before whenever they need to inject a bit of crash-bang-wallop drama out of nowhere."They might even want to spin it as Bernie trying to comfort Dev because she's lost a child but the pressure leads to them splitting up? Who knows. But they've never felt like the most natural Corrie couple to me anyway.."Coronation Street has a history of killing off characters after their exits. Last year, Jim McDonald (Charlie Lawson) died off-screen before writers changed history and decided he had had an affair decades ago that resulted in the birth of the man who recently took over the Rovers.Prior to that, Les Battersby (Bruce Jones), who left in 2007, was said to have died in an accident at work in order to user in a dark plot about hush money. From 2010 until 2015, former Strictly Come Dancing star Georgia May Foote played Katy Armstrong before her character jetted off to live abroad. Two years later, her sister Izzy received a phone call telling her that she had died in a car accident, leaving her ex-boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) to bring up their son alone. Other memorable characters to have received an off-screen death over the programme's 65 years include Len Fairclough (Peter Adamson) and Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden). Others like Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride), Stan Ogden (Bernard Youens) and Blanche Hunt (Maggie Jones) were all killed off when the actor or actress died in real life before any other kind of exit could be filmed.Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X. *Article continues belowFollow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
