TVTV NewsCoronation StreetA Coronation Street star has confirmed their involvement in one of Channel 4's most successful shows21:45, 17 Jun 2026A hit Channel 4 series is set to return for a new series boasting a stellar cast including a Coronation Street actor.Actor Tony Hirst joined the long-running ITV soap way back in 2010 as fireman Paul Kershaw - and during his stint on the cobbles, he played a part in some major storylines.Most notably, Paul was involved in a complex love triangle with Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and his Alzheimer’s sufferer wife Lesley (Judy Holt).However, in 2013, it was reported that Tony had been axed and Paul would die at the end of an "explosive" storyline. However, this wasn’t true and instead the character departed Weatherfield after he was accused of racism.As well as Corrie, actor Tony played Mike Barnes on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, and has made appearances in the likes of Boiling Point, Brassic and more recently, Riot Women.And in a recent interview with Betway, Tony opened up about a drama that he is currently filming - and it’s one of Channel 4’s most successful shows.“I’m working on a Channel Four drama called Patience. We’ve been shooting in York, and then there’s a hiatus before they film the interiors,” he shared.Tony added: “The exteriors are shot in York and Belgium, so I’ve just been stood down for the time being and I’m waiting to head over to Belgium next month to pick up the rest of my scenes.”He also gushed over one of his co-stars: “They’re a lovely group of people to work with, and I’m working alongside Jessica Hynes, who I think is absolutely fantastic, as well as being a deeply lovely human being. So yes, that’s keeping me busy at the moment. After that, who knows?
