But if you've found yourself hungry for something new, one social media user has a recommendation for one programme you might not have heard of, which they said is perfect for fans of HBO's True Detective.‌They described the German-language programme, which ran for three seasons between 2019 and 2023, as "one of the most riveting" shows they had ever seen. Writing on X, formerly Twitter, @sonnysehra recommended the programme to their 11,400 followers.‌They said: "If you liked the first season of TRUE DETECTIVE, you must watch the Austro-German noir show Pagan Peak (2019-2023). It’s one of the most riveting, darkest, visually stunning, and underrated shows I’ve seen in ages. It’s set in the Alps and about a ritualistic pagan serial killer."‌Known in its original language as Der Pass, Pagan Peak is a joint Austrian-German production set in the cross-border region of the two nations.It features two detectives, German Ellie, played by Julia Jentsch, and Austrian Gedeon, portrayed by Nicholas Ofczarek, investigating a series of grisly murders.Content cannot be displayed without consent‌The series has a rating of eight out of 10 on film and TV website IMDB. One reviewer described it as "True Detective mixed with The Bridge". Co-creator Philipp Stennert has cited The Bridge, a 2011 Danish-Swedish crime series, as an inspiration for the show.The reviewer said: "This one is a bit of a slow burner in the beginning, but quickly gains steam. Has everything a good thriller needs: multi-layered protagonists, a little bit of mystery, great score and decent writing.
