OLONGAPO CITY — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is ramping up its efforts to safeguard the country’s eastern marine frontier, undertaking the construction of a state-of-the-art Marine Scientific Research Station (MSRS) in Aurora province, to boost science-based management of the Philippine Rise.

In a statement on Thursday, May 21, Alfredo Collado, head of the DENR provincial office in Aurora, said the facility, located in coastal Barangay Dibacong in Casiguran has already reached 25 percent physical accomplishment as of mid-May 2026.
