MANILA, Philippines — State-run Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (Apeco) is volunteering its Casiguran site to host the Philippines’ planned defense facilities along the Pacific seaboard, following a proposal from Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr.

In a statement, Apeco said its 12,923-hectare ecozone in Aurora could serve as a platform for strategic installations and defense-related industries, given its location on Luzon’s eastern seaboard and direct access to the Pacific Ocean.
