LUCENA CITY, QUEZON, Philippines — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has ordered a resort in Infanta, Quezon to stop operations over the alleged construction of structures inside a protected national park, wildlife sanctuary, and game preserve.

In a report released Wednesday, May 20, the DENR Regional Office IV-A said personnel from the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) in neighboring Real town, assisted by police and Army personnel, served and enforced a cease-and-desist order (CDO) against the unnamed resort.

The CDO cited alleged violations of Republic Act No. 7586, or the National Integrated Protected Areas System (Nipas) Act of 1992, as amended by Republic Act No. 11038, or the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (Enipas) Act of 2018.

“The order stemmed from the unlawful construction and maintenance of structures, as well as the operation of business activities within the protected area without the required Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) clearance and DENR permits,” the regional office said.
