Meanwhile, foreign investments declined by seven percent in Europe.According to EY's European Attractiveness Survey 2026 report, there were a total of 91 direct foreign investments made last year in Finland.It noted that several of the investments were related to Finland's defence sector.In terms of investment attractiveness across Europe, the report found Finland ranked 12th, up four places from last year. The majority of foreign investment in Finland comes from the United States and Sweden.Finland has received more direct foreign investment than Sweden for several years now, but EY said the gap between the two Nordic countries is growing.Sweden had 56 direct foreign investments, compared to Finland's 91. Sweden saw a 19 percent annual decrease, which caused them to drop from 15th to 17th in the ranking. Norway, on the other hand, attracted 31 foreign direct investments, an increase of seven percent, an EY press release explained."In 2025, Finland received several defense-related foreign direct investments, especially in the areas of technology, space, sensors and digital infrastructure. Many of these investment companies operate simultaneously in both the civilian and defense sectors, meaning that their solutions are utilised in different applications," the release stated.
